It couldn't have happened to a nicer terrorist.
Today, an Italian court convicted Rabei Osman of various terror charges, including involvement in the Madrid attack.
Unfortunately, it was an Italian court doing the convicting and so he can look forward to ten "European" years in prison which converts to about 3 "American" years of prison time. It wouldn't mean much, but Osman -- aka "Mohammed the Egyptian" -- was arrested primarily for a taped admission of his role in the Madrid attacks (see PBS Frontline: Al Qaeda's New Front -- no. 3).
Ten "European" years in prison seems a deeply depressing injustice for the man who bragged about doing this:
UPDATE: Western Resistance has a round up. Let me make a correction, too: Osman was convicted of charges related to his Italian-based activities. He's facing trial in Spain, as well. Let's hope he gets --oh -- an extra 10 "European" years in Spain.
