On 7 October, a jihadist website posted a message by an unknown author threatening those who criticize or "slander" Islamic scholars with expulsion from the Al-Shumukh Network website...
"In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate,
"May the peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
"Quote: In the name of God, and praise be to God."Lately in the jihadist forums, a new, yet old discord has appeared, whose perpetrators have used vilification, defamation, and slander of the scholars of monotheism and jihad, which are the features of the victorious sect in this era. Their poisoned documents were directed not at the slaughtering of the people of the idols, but at the people of faith. They spared no working scholar or mujahid in the frontline. Now their war is directed at the grandsons of Ibn Taymiyyah; the companion of the amir of the hearts, Al-Zarqawi (may God accept him) who is a great scholar; and Abu-Muhammad al-Maqdisi (may God protect him and lengthen his life). This is not the place to account the virtues of the imam, since he is well known and needs no introduction.
"We have stated previously that the network was originally established to support the monotheist people and defend their honor. Any member who slanders the honor of any of them, or tries to slander them in any way, overtly or in a concealed way, or through the promotion of bankrupt beliefs, is to be expelled.
He has no place in the dignified Shumukh (website).
"By God, after this statement, anyone who promotes these beliefs, and specifically who slanders Shaykh Al-Maqdisi, his fate will be expulsion. This is a promise made before God, which we will apply (God willing). Thus, we are conducting investigations to verify some of the known people here at the Shumukh of dignity, so we can eliminate them from the roots (God willing).
"We conclude by asking the brothers in the administration of the blessed Al-Hisbah Network, the pride of the jihadist forums, to be resolute and deal firmly with anyone who is tempted to transgress our Shaykh Al-Maqdisi, who has bestowed many favors upon us. Through his books and explanations we learned of clear monotheism in this era, when many of the issues have become confused.
"Praise be to God, Lord of all creation."
